Everything I tattooed in September...

Everything I tattooed in September...

I know, I know, we're already halfway through October, and I'm only now posting this September round up. I don't know how it happens. This elusive passing of time that just seems to be on a runaway trajectory right now. I can't seem to stop it. I keep trying, but I'm not magical enough, anyway....

My September was fun!!! It was full of great tattoos, cat cuddles annnnnd hiking. Yup you read that right, you're sedentary artist friend has been hiking. No, this is not a usual activity for me. I mean, I like to walk around the city, but I don't really get the chance to actually go hiking often. But my friends and I will sporadically meet up to go on a National park road trip, and a few weeks ago we tackled the ‘Mighty 5’ in Utah!

But more on that later, first thing first…

Tattoo Time

As always I'm just posting one photo of each tattoo (website speed issues), so I'll add tags to any social media posts that are up.

Sarah

I got to finish Sarah's gooorgeous project. I'm so in love with this placement. She's an absolute champ. This was done over two separate sessions, so the line work is healed and the details are fresh. I can't wait to get some fully healed photos!!!

Chris

I've had the pleasure of tattooing Chris a fair bit over the last couple of years. I know his octopus tattoo was a big hit on my social media, and I was so happy when he asked me to add this shoulder / neck addition. You can find photos of his octopus 3 years healed HERE.

IG

Rachel

Rachel's moth and moon flowers are a little over a year healed, and we extended it with these lilies and flowy swirls! It fits her so perfectly, I love it so much.

IG

Nicole

Nicole grabbed this pretty freehand peony as part of my 'summer special' deal. I know it's technically fall, but we had to rearrange her OG appointment, so I'm still counting it as a summer special.

Mandy

Mandy came over from Prince Edward County and sat like a champ for these peonies 🥰 there's a teeny cover up in there too! Check the IG post for a before photo.

Paul

Paul had some work that he wasn't keen on, so we covered it with this ornate flower! Check the TT video to see how it looked before. I can't wait to see this tattoo healed!

Rebecca

I started working on Rebecca's leg back in 2021 and we've built it up piece by piece over the last 3 years. We added the last few pieces in September. I love how it's all come together, the perfect patchwork leg sleeve.

Hayley

Talking of patchwork pieces, Hayley has THIS patchwork sleeve, that you might recognise. We added the last elbow fill this month, and also did this sternum piece, while we were there 🙂...

And now for a brief interlude...

UTAH!!!

So yup, I went to Utah, met up with 7 of my friends from various places around the world and drove (I mean. I didn't drive, but we drove) from Salt Lake City to Vegas, via the 'big 5' National Parks.

So we visited Canyonlands, Arches, Capitol Reef, Bryce and Zion. And finished the whole thing up with the greatest wedding I've ever been to in Vegas (congrats Kirstyn and Lewis). It was a magical 10 days, full of wonderful company, aching legs, unbelievable views, the best road trip playlists ever concocted (we would each add 10 tracks to a playlist each day, and guess who added what, it was magnificent chaos).

And now I'm blessing you with the most hilarious panorama ever taken (photo credit to Jesse)...
If you want to see more photos of my trip check my IG post.

Now back to tattoos...

Courtney

I spent two days with Courtney when I got home from my road trip. We began working on a big coverup / blast over project. She wanted to keep a couple of pieces on her lower arm, but we covered a bunch of random tattoos she was less into. She was a champ, and I can't wait to continue with this project 🙂.

Erin

Erin had a very cute chickadee tattoo (matching with her mum 🥹), that I did 4 years ago. And she decided to jump in and fill her lower arm with patchwork florals. I love how these work with her existing tattoo, which you can see HERE.

IG

Jaya

I also got to finish Jaya's sleeve at the end of September!!! We just had the last of her lower arm to tattoo, everything else is nicely healed. We started building her sleeve up, piece by piece in January 2024, with no plan of how big it was going to be, and then by September her whole arm was filled! I particularly love projects that build organically like this.

In Other News

  • Malone is still the most magnificent being to exist

  • Stacy and I met Mark Hamill at TIFF!!!! We also saw Eden, which was really interesting and intense, and Ron Howard did a Q&A (he directed the movie)

  • I've been reading:
Wild Eyes // Elsie Silver - This was my road trip book! A cowboy-esque, BC set, romance that seemed appropriate for the trip. I picked it up at Lovebound Library, a romance bookstore we stumbled upon in Salt Lake City.
The Unhoneymooners & The Paradise Problem // Christina Lauren - cute books, I like how the author is actually two friends who write together.
Ninth House // Leigh Bardugo - I really enjoyed this, but maybe mostly becasue it's set at Yale, which I have a soft spot for because Gilmore Girls.
Youur's Truly // Abby Jimenez - I'm reading this little series in reverse order by accident, but they work as seperate novels so it's ok. I really like her books!

  • I've been watching:
X-files! I never watched it before, and Sabrina recommended I give it a go. I love the nostalgia, and Gillian Anderson 😍.
Nobody wants this (netflix) - Goddamn this is a cute lil show. And Adam Brody (aka Seth Cohen) is a blessing to our screens.

  • I went to:
Word on the Street - the book fair in Toronto. They shut down a road in Toronto and have a bunch of book stores / publishers / authors / and other stalls for the weekend. It was really fun!

And that's it for September!

Thanks for reading, I'll be in touch with an October update (maybe quite soon, lol),
