Blackwork floral rib tattoo on a male client, featuring bold peony and dahlia designs with fine-line details. Tattooed in Toronto in February 2025.

Everything I tattooed in February 2025

Hiya,

I hope everyone's February's were as warm and cozy as possible.

We've had two big snow storms in Toronto this last month, so I've been doing a lot of 'watching the pretty snow fall from inside my lovely warm apartment', buuut I did drag myself outside a couple of times. There's been some iceskating, a visit to the AGO to see the hip-hop exhibit, and going to see the Winter Station's, an art installation exhibition that happens every year in Toronto on the beach. I love that the Toronto has free art events, even in the winter.

Something kind of big did happen in February and I finally got my Canadian passport!!! Getting my citizenship has been a huge goal of mine for sooo long, and it's kind of surreal that It's finally done. I'm also super stoked that my first trip with this passport will be to see one of my best friends down in Houston (he's from the UK too, but we've somehow both ended up on this continent). We're going to see Post Malone at the Houston Rodeo in March and I CANNOT wait.

My other big news of the months is that I bought a TV. Lol, exciting right 😂. Buuut the thing is, I haven't owned a TV since leaving the UK 8.5 years ago, so it's a big change. A couple weeks ago I finally got fed up of watching everything on my ipad, and because it's February in Toronto there's been a lot of watching, so I spontaneously bought a TV.

TBH I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it, but Malone is OBSESSED. We've mostly been watching bird videos on Youtube. And she loves to try to kill the buffering circle. Good job she's gentle or the TV would already be dead. Imagine having to explain that one to Best Buy.

Tattoo Time

It's been a fantastic month of tattooing 🥰. I've had so many super fun projects to do, and I've been lucky enough to have a bunch of my clients travel to me this month. I think the furthest was Jay, who came all the way from Texas 🤯. And travelling to Toronto in February is no easy feat, so I'm super grateful.

BTW my books will next open on 3rd-4th May is you want to pop it into your calendar.

Now let's take a look at this month's projects!...

Daria

Daria has the most amazing tattoo collection, and she asked me to add to it!! Seriously some of my favourite artists are on her arm 🫣. We added the rosemary, lavender and wheat bundle as a tribute to her three aunts, a peony for herself, a pepper for her lovely little cat Pepper, and a snowdrop 🥰🌿. To see them all check out my IG post.

On her arm she has work by:

@veenom_bleunoir
@paingardens
@suflanda
@erikavendett
@lmariera
@baroquebabetattoos

A fine-line blackwork tattoo featuring a botanical bundle of wheat, lavender, and rosemary on the forearm. The tattoo flows naturally with the arm and is surrounded by other floral and nature-inspired designs.

Lindsay

Lindsay came in to add this special piece to her collection, dedicated to her two cats, Peach and Poppy 🥹. This tattoo is the latest addition to a garden of blackwork florals we’ve been building together since 2023. It's always so much fun hanging out with her.

A blackwork floral tattoo featuring peaches and poppies, created as a tribute to the client’s pet cats. The tattoo is part of an evolving collection of botanical designs.

Katherine

Katherine travelled from Rochester, NY, to get this peony and acanthus piece, and I absolutely love how it turned out! We designed this piece in advance, and it fitted her arm exactly as I envisioned it!

A fine line blackwork tattoo of a peony and acanthus design on the upper arm. The tattoo is detailed and flows naturally with the arm’s shape, blending floral and ornamental elements.

Megan

I also got to finish Megan's floral leg piece this month 🥰. She recently completed her PhD and wanted to mark the milestone with this incredible project. It wraps around her leg so check out my IG to see the full piece. We included a rose for a pup who passed, and a dahlia for her dog Norah, so this tattoo is full of meaning and detail.

A fine line blackwork floral tattoo wrapping around the lower leg, featuring a rose and dahlia, celebrating personal milestones and cherished pets.

Bryarre

Bryarre travelled all the way from Winnipeg to get this tattoo—and what a journey it was. After flight cancellations and standby stress, she made it to Toronto and sat like an absolute champ for this freehand tattoo 🌿✨. We incorporated poppies for her mum, a monarch butterfly for her sister, and a mix of peonies/roses (rosnies?) for that soft, organic flow. Obsessed with how this one turned out! Worth the trip 🖤.

Colin

I had the honour of adding this very meaningful song sparrow with an Eastern White Pine branch (aka. Ontario’s provincial tree) to Colin’s sleeve. This piece builds onto an American robin and mountain laurel we did around 18 months ago. I love seeing pieces evolve over time, especially those that hold such special meaning to my clients 🥰🌿.

Abby

Abby had a tattoo she didn't love anymore, so we freehanded this peony and blossom tattoo to cover it. No special meaning, just a beautiful floral tattoo 🥰.

A blackwork peony and blossom tattoo designed as a cover-up, flowing naturally across the foot.

Laura

We added this gorgeous black swallowtail butterfly to Laura's gorilla (aka Stanley), who was done by another artist 10 years ago (it's held up sooo good). We added sweetbay magnolia, which means perseverance, pimpernal flowers, which signify change, and laurel leaves for success, to celebrate her year of sobriety!

A detailed blackwork tattoo featuring a black swallowtail butterfly resting on intricate floral elements, including magnolias and wildflowers. This fine-line and dotwork design blends seamlessly with an existing black and grey tattoo, creating a cohesive and elegant composition. Expertly crafted at a top blackwork tattoo studio in Toronto, specializing in feminine floral tattoos and nature-inspired designs.

Keira

I finally got to tattoo Keira after she’d been following my work for so long! We created this delicate floral piece with roses, a poppy, and the sweetest little bows. Love how this all came together, and the flow 🥰🌿.

Vanessa

Vanessa came up from New Jersey for this beaut of a tattoo 🥰. Inspired by one of my sketchbook designs. I love how it flows with her, and how bold the leaves are 🌿.

Cheryl

I've been loving having so many reading-inspired tattoos to do recently! This one is for Cheryl, who came up from all the way from Atlanta with her partner Roberta, and sat like a champ 🥰🌿.

A blackwork tattoo featuring books, florals, and a paw print, done in fine line style on the thigh.

Roberta

Roberta also came from Atlanta for this beaut of a piece! I'm so happy with how big she went with it, it fits her so well 🌿. Peonies, a pansy, and a sweet little cherry blossom as a nod to Cheryl 🥰 (out of shot in this photo).

Jay

A sneak peek at Jay's mammoth cover-up/blastover. I can't wait to continue this project in the summer, so until then this is what you get 🫣🥰.

This custom tattoo flows naturally with the arm, creating a bold yet feminine look. Completed at a top tattoo studio in Toronto, specializing in fine-line blackwork and floral tattoo designs.

Colby

Ok so technically we finished this one on March 1st, but it's too good not to show off... Colby came up from Detroit and sat for two days like a GD champ for this epic piece. Two days on your ribs is no joke 🤯. It's also super meaningful tattoo, as it's for his Mum. She's a master gardener, a passion she passed down to Colby, and he wanted this tattoo to make him feel close to her, to always see her presence in something beautiful 🖤🖤🖤.

A striking blackwork tattoo featuring a finely detailed vase adorned with blooming peonies and dahlias, placed on the ribs. This bold-yet-elegant floral design showcases expert fine-line shading and intricate linework, creating depth and movement. Tattooed at a top blackwork tattoo studio in Toronto, known for its feminine floral tattoos, fine-line botanical designs, and large-scale black ink pieces.

Flower of the Month

Did you know that lavender has long been associated with calm, protection, and even the supernatural?

In floriography, lavender signifies distrust (because lavender historically would grow in hot climates where dangerous asps would also be found), so lavender tattoos can be a reminder to the wearer to be wary of danger and to take care of oneself.

But that's not the only meaning associated with lavender…

We all know it's calming fragrance can lull you into a calm peaceful sleep, so it's perfect to symbolise inner calm and tranquility.

 Historically, it was believed that smelling lavender could help you see ghosts, and carrying a sprig in your pocket, placing over your door (or perhaps on you as a tattoo 😉) will ward off evil. So it's a perfect protection symbol.

It's also the birth flower for the zodiac sign Gemini (although there are many discrepancies for birth flowers across sources, so you your homework).

Whether you’re drawn to any of these meanings, or simply love the look of its delicate blossoms, lavender makes a beautiful addition to any tattoo design. And it works beautifully as a standalone piece or woven into a larger floral composition.

And remember, just because a tattoo can have a meaning doesn’t mean it has to. The most important thing is what it means to you. 🌿
